Carolyn Dunoon is a third generation Unity girl, born and raised in Kansas City. Carolyn became a public school teacher in 1974. She has a BA and a MA In French. She lived in Paris and studied at the Sorbonne to complete her MA. Carolyn speaks both French and Spanish. She taught 36 years in public schools. After she retired in 2010, Carolyn became a regular substitute teacher because she missed teaching so much. Where ever and whom ever she teaches, it is a chance for her to affirm the love in all, to connect by our hearts. Teaching is a joy for her.
Carolyn joined Unity Northwest in 1982 and started teaching Sunday school in 1992, upon the request of the then minister, Rev Vi Davis. Her children were young and she wanted them to have the experience of Unity teachings as children. Teaching children is her passion! She loves to share the story of how we have God’s love in our heart and how to share it! (This Little Light of Mine!) Although she has volunteered at UNW in many different ways, nothing touches her heart like being with the kids, watching them grow in stature and understanding. She has even taught the children of her former students.
She is a Certified Spiritual Educator in Unity, trained by the best, Rev Diane Venzera. Carolyn served as her assistant director for 11 years. She has completed 34 classes of Unity Spiritual Education and Enrichment and will be applying for the LUT (Licensed Unity Teacher) program in Youth and Family Ministry soon. Carolyn consider it a great honor to serve as the Team leader of the Youth and Family Ministry at Unity Northwest!

What makes our Youth Ministry program special
We provide a nurturing, safe environment for our children to start their spiritual journey and develop friendships throughout. During our time together, our youth is encouraged to experience God, learn about the world around them, and discover the sacred in everyday life.
We use discussions, stories, music, meditation, movement, art, and other activities to engage our youth and explore Truth principles. The lessons are fun and age-appropriate, and provide lively, creative experiences directly related to the discussion of Unity concepts to help anchor their learning.
Youth ministry programs are available for children and teens, infant to 18 years, during the 10:30 am Service only. We ask you to drop your children off between 10:15 and 10:30 am so we can greet you and your children.
"I appreciate the opportunity to work in such a loving spiritual community and we look forward to seeing you in our ministry and honoring the unique expression of God that you are."
-Carolyn Dunoon, Youth & Family Director
